My daughter Sarah was exactly 5 months old when she had her first seizure, thankfully we were in the emergency room at the time. I have never been so terrified in my whole life. It appeared to be febrile because she had an infection. but they continued to come. She would go months in between and they would come without warning. Her diagnosis went from provoked seizure disorder to epilepsy, Sarah always has grand mal seizures. Then in January 2010 they stopped, it had appeared we had the right medicine combo at last! She was seizure free until November 2011, that’s 22 months with no seizures. We were getting excited to be coming up on the 2 year mark, thinking she had finally out grew them and would be off the medication soon. But sadly she just outgrew her medication dosage.

Sarah also has multiple conditions to deal with, she has juvenile arthritis, autism and severe adhd. But even with all she has to deal with she is a bright, happy loving child who has no idea her life is different from other children. I think that’s what makes it easier for me. I hope this good attitude follows her throughout her life.
